I made this civil war top & skirt a couple of years ago. Its just been sitting in my closet, so I decided to pull it out and do a photo shoot :) I got the fabirc at joanns (its cotton) and the pattern well..I have no Idea where the original is. My, sister copied it from a friends dress (years ago) and I don't know if her's was a copy of the original or not, but I copied mine from my sisters ;)
That is AMAZING!!! And I'm not just saying that to be nice. I'm dead honest right now. Wow.
ReplyDeleteOh, how lovely! Civil war dresses are truly beautiful. I wear a dress with a hoopskirt to a historical ball I go to...it's pretty fun to walk around with one! :)

amazing!! That dress is sooo pretty!
ReplyDeleteNice job! The Civil War is a great era for clothing. I've been wanting to make one for a while, but have never gotten around to it.
ReplyDeletequestion, how much does it cost you to make one costume?
ReplyDeleteThanks all!
ReplyDeleteAshley-Every costume is different I can't remember what I spent on this dress. So far my medieval dress has cost me the most though. It, was $50 for 10yds of fabric and I got it on sale!
When I first started though I won't spend more then $12 in supplies for a costume, but prices have gone up and I am trying to buy better quailty materials.
That dress is gorgeous! I'm looking for another costumer to kind of keep in touch with as I'm getting started making them myself. I don't know a whole lot about what kind of fabric to order for different things and stuff like that. Plus I just love seeing what other people can do! :)
